Tim Tebow Press Pass Trading Card

Tim Tebow mania has begun…err, continued.  After finishing his career as arguably the greatest college basketball player of all time, the media coverage on Tebow has been substantial to say the least.  From playing in the senior bowl, to tweaking his throwing motion, to his performance at the combine…Information on Tebow is everywhere, and apparently its translated into a lot of fan interest as well.

Just ask the people waiting to line up for his autograph.

Press Pass officials were watching intently last weekend when Tim Tebow, the superstar quarterback the company signed to a “draft picks” trading card exclusive just days earlier, conducted his first public signing.

They were no doubt thrilled by what they saw: More than 1,500 people descending upon Palm Beach Autographs in Jacksonville, Fla., willing to pay as much as $160 for Tebow’s signature and $75 for a picture with the former Florida Gators’ superstar.

Tebow’s first autographed trading cards will be included in 2010 Press Pass Football, due out March 31; the company will also include Tebow autographs in the inaugural Press Pass Portrait Edition that releases April 28. (via Beckett Blog)

1500 people. $160 per autograph. $75 per picture.  Wow. Never let it be said that the state of Florida doesn’t support its football players.  Simply astronomical numbers, especially for someone who is just transitioning between college to the pros.  There are some hall of fame players who could pull down $160 per autograph (especially if, as I assume, its literally just Tebow signing something…no certificate of authenticity or anything like that) and Tebow is doing it before he takes a snap in the NFL.

…love him or hate him, it appears that the Tebow mania is just getting started.
